Skills

Technical

My main expertise lies on a pure Data Science profile: I am an expert in getting messy data from different sources and aggregating, cleaning, exploring and modeling them to solve problems. I do so applying Statistics, Machine Learning, Visualization and Data Engineering concepts.

The main tool I use to do so is R: I’m an expert on it, my main toolbox includes the tidyverse, caret, knitr and shinypackages (this whole website was done using the blogdown package too!) and I’ve used it and taught it for five years now. With it, I can perform the full lifecycle of a Data Science project, from getting the data to deploying a custom dashboard or HTML report to present my results. If needed, though, I can also use Python, Matlab or Excel. I’ve also worked with databases, both relational and non relational and dabbed into a bit of Javascript with D3.js to create custom visualizations.

Skills

Personal

  • Public Speaking: I’ve given lots of talks and seminars and taught at a Master’s Degree level.
  • Analysis: breaking down complex problems into easy chunks.
  • Team work: Data Science must be team based and I’m very comfourtable in such environment.
  • Creativity: getting a Ph.D. has made me devise solutions to problems that no one had tackled before.
  • Adaptability: I’ve worked on completely different environments and problems, but my skills and mindset are easily converted to each one.
